DGA Official Announcement

The DGA's statement:
DGA AND AMPTP REACH TENTATIVE AGREEMENT ON TERMS OF NEW CONTRACT

Well, unless it gets voted down, it looks like it's a done deal. It's a three year deal. Some of the highlights of the deal pointed out by in the release:
Increases both wages and residual bases for each year of the contract.

Establishes DGA jurisdiction over programs produced for distribution on the Internet.

Establishes new residuals formula for paid Internet downloads (electronic sell-through) that essentially doubles the rate currently paid by employers.

Establishes residual rates for ad-supported streaming and use of clips on the Internet.

Gil Cates, chair of the DGA negoitations committee said, "Two words describe this agreement - groundbreaking and substantial."

I'll have more on this as more information comes up. Is this the beginning of the end? A lot of people in Hollywood have to be smiling a little after today's news. At least I am.

Go check out the DGA site for the complete official announcement.
