Well, the New England Revolution failed to catch the vibe of New England sports. They failed to win the "coveted" MLS Cup yet again. Yes, they've have become the Buffalo Bills of soccer. They have lost three straight championship games. Including the 2002 game, that's four in the last six years. I don't have the stats on hand, but I think the Bills and the Revs might be the only teams in a major professional sport to lose three straight championship games. Not really a good club to be in.
I don't claim to be a "true" Revolution fan. I'm not like the majority of current Boston fans who claim to be diehard and think David Ortiz is the best left handed hitter in Red Sox history or Kevin Garnett is the best rebounder the Celtics have ever had. End rant. I follow them from time to time. Might check a box score every so often, but I only have minimal knowledge of the club.
Still, you have to feel a little bad for the Revs. Like the Bruins, they get no press in the papers, but have been extremely successful in the last few years. They've actually been to the conference finals six straight years. Quite an accomplishment really, but still lack the the big one. Maybe next year, maybe not. At least they're not alone.
