On to the ALCS

Well, the Red Sox continue to keep me guessing as they literally dominated the Angels enroute to a sweep. Considering that the season series was close, the Red Sox made quick business of the Angels for the second time in four years. Believe it or not the Red Sox have beat the Angels nine straight postseason games datng back to 1986. How did the streak start? In the classic game five that saw Dave Henderson hit a huge homerun off Donnie Moore (arguably leading to Moore's suicide years later).

The Red Sox now go to the ALCS for the fourth time in the last ten years. And like the '03 and '04 teams, I think they got a damn good shot to go to another World Series. Here is the problem: the Yankees. Everyone should really hope the Yankees don't come back from a 0-2 hole. Why? They are going to be hot as hell when they play the Sox.

Consider this. The Red Sox will be seating on their asses for close to a week if the Yankees win in five games. They will have lost all their momentum. The Yankees will be riding high. Granted, you can't worry about the other teams, but I really would like to avoid the Yanks.

Still, for now I just want to relax and enjoy the moment. The Red Sox are back in the ALCS.
